(Washington, D.C.): This morning, the U.S. House of Representatives passed its version of President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act under the leadership of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN). While the act encompasses many complex issues, Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill particularly strengthens initiatives for American families.

This bill contains measures that directly defund abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood, protecting American tax dollars. Since the majority of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, the provisions contained within this bill uphold Americans conscientious objections toward the practice and will allow more funding to be committed to authentic women’s healthcare such as federally qualified health centers.

Bradley Kehr, Government Affairs Director with Americans United for Life, added, “Americans United for Life has long been working to end federal funding for abortion providers. The American people deserve the peace of mind that their tax dollars are not going to support organizations known to harm women, children, and their families.”

Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill also reflects policies Americans United for Life, and the rest of the Blueprint for Life Coalition, called upon Congress to instate in March of this year. These provisions include increasing the Child Tax Credit, strengthening the Adoption Tax Credit, and providing more support for paid parental leave.

John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life, emphasized the need for these additional provisions, stating, “Our support for life and for American families must go beyond simply not supporting abortion. We must continue to advocate for policies that empower families beyond the birth of their child and strengthen the family unit.”

Americans United for Life stands beside the bold leadership of members of the House and urges the U.S. Senate to swiftly follow suit by, at minimum, match the important, pro-family and pro-woman provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
