(Washington, D.C.): Last night, Americans United for Life (AUL) was notified by client Zenaida Perez that Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has placed her on immediate administrative leave with pay for “serious professional misconduct.”

This comes soon after the response by FCPS and its exorbitantly expensive K Street attorneys to Senate and U.S. Department of Education investigations attempted to claim the allegations made by Perez were a “fabrication” according to their own preliminary internal investigation.

The letter from FCPS was sent to Perez immediately following the conclusion of AUL’s webinar entitled “Abortion Coercion and the Fight for Parental Rights in Public Schools,” wherein she gave an account of her allegations to demonstrate the importance of strengthening parental rights across the nation. At least two attorneys for King & Spalding, the Washington, DC law firm representing FCPS, had registered for the webinar.

Steven H. Aden, AUL Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel representing Perez, stated, “Placing our client on leave is just the latest example of Fairfax County’s determination to stack one retaliatory action against her on top of another. We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that Mrs. Perez’s charges are properly investigated by the Virginia State Police, the Senate, and the Department of Education, and not brushed under the rug by FCPS bureaucrats in an attempt to save face. Mrs. Perez will have her day in court, and we are more confident than ever in our client.”

Perez’s legal team continues to prepare her lawsuit against FCPS in the face of continued action against their client.
