(Washington, D.C.): Today marks the historic victory for life when, three years ago to the day, the Supreme Court of the United States issued the opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, striking down the “grievously wrong” precedent of Roe and Casey.

Since a constitutional “right” to abortion has no longer been the law of the land, countless lives have been saved – both women and their babies. Americans United for Life (AUL) celebrates the lives saved under Dobbs while simultaneously recognizing the distance that still needs to be bridged to protect American women and children.

John Mize, CEO of AUL, emphasized, “The victory in Dobbs was a generational win. For nearly half a century, advocates for life had one thing in mind: overturning Roe. Now, even under the freedom of Dobbs, there are generations more work to be accomplished in order to bring about a culture where abortion is left to history.”

Carolyn McDonnell, Litigation Counsel for AUL, added, “Dobbs reset the baseline in abortion jurisprudence, overturning Roe’s devised abortion, and recognizing that states may protect mothers and their unborn children from abortion violence. In our post-Roe world, the pro-life movement will continue to advocate for authentic women’s healthcare and the respect of human life from conception until natural death.”

Americans United for Life will continue to stand for women and their children, fighting for life on all fronts and advocating for families everywhere. Roe may be in the past, but the fight for life rages ahead.
