California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, a career apologist for the multi-million dollar abortion industry, should have no role in America’s public health institutions. Joe Biden’s pick for Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Becerra has spent his career shilling for the abortion industry’s agenda. In California, Becerra has aggressively prosecuted pro-life citizen journalists like David Daleiden for sharing factual information. Becerra has fought all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to force pro-life pregnancy resource centers to advertise abortion. And in Congress, Becerra voted against the “Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act,” which would prohibit taking a minor across state lines for an abortion without parental knowledge or consent. Becerra signaled support for the barbaric act of partial-birth abortion—in which a child is partially delivered before she is forcibly killed by puncturing the base of the skull—by opposing a common sense ban on the practice. As a reward for his abortion activism, Becerra received a 100% rating from NARAL and Planned Parenthood.
President-elect Biden campaigned on his religious convictions and his commitment to respecting the rights of conscience for all Americans. During his lifetime in the U.S. Senate and his tenure as Vice President, Joe Biden supported popular protections like the Hyde Amendment. After winning millions of moderate votes, why is Joe Biden nominating Xavier Becerra, who has made it clear he is willing to use the power of the state to impose pro-abortion policies on people who vigorously disagree, including pro-life pregnancy centers?
We are in the midst of a profound public health crisis, and Americans must be able to place their trust in our public health institutions. Xavier Becerra is not worthy of that trust, and the nation will suffer deeply if he is elevated to a position of such importance.
