WASHINGTON, DC— Americans United for life is gravely disappointed in Mayor Muriel Bowser’s reckless decision to sign into law the Strengthening Reproductive Health Protections Amendment Act.

Katie Glenn, Government Affairs Counsel at Americans United for Life remarked, “As a DC resident, I am appalled to see our government ignore the health and safety of women. I testified in opposition to this bill in December because it places the desires of the greedy abortion industry over the needs of women and girls. The big abortion lobby will stop at nothing until it has complete open season and are free from any and all medical oversight. This dangerous bill signed into law by the District government doubles down on existing bad policy which will put women, and especially young girls, at unparalleled risk. This does not improve ‘women’s health.’ It is dangerous and wrong”.

“The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children warns that the average victim of child sex trafficking victims is only 15 years old,” said Tom Shakely, Chief Engagement Officer at Americans United for Life. “What the District of Columbia has done is make it easier for child sex traffickers and abusers to cover up their crimes and continue their abuse. That should tell you everything you need to know about the upside-down priorities of this bill.”
