Americans United for Life is pleased that Oklahoma State District Court Judge Patricia Parrish recognized the value of a 72-hour abortion reflection period. In an order issued yesterday, she found that the law “furthers a valid and legitimate state interest in protecting the patient and . . . does not unduly burden or place a substantial obstacle in the path of a woman’s right to choose.” As such, she refused the Center for Reproductive Rights’ request to stop the law from being enforced. This ruling ensures that every woman in Oklahoma will continue to have the opportunity to make a fully informed and deliberate decision about whether to end the life of her unborn child.
