WASHINGTON, D.C. (11-03-15) – Americans United for Life Action President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest urged members of the U.S. Senate to cosponsor and vote in favor of a Senate Resolution introduced by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), “to recognize the vital role that pregnancy resource centers play in saving lives and serving women, men and unborn children, facing the challenges of pregnancy. Pregnancy Resource Centers are a vital part of a community, staffed primarily with volunteers who dedicate their lives to helping mothers and their children. Opposition to this resolution from allies of the abortion industry in the Senate reveals just how extreme they really are. This resolution, which merely serves to recognize the service that pregnancy centers provide members of communities across our country should be non-controversial must-pass legislation.”
She continued: “Some on Capitol Hill are saying that there will be Senators who will object to the passage of this resolution because they do not respect these organizations which help a woman who chooses life for her unborn child. For some, the only choice they support is abortion. While this resolution merely says thank you to the Pregnancy Centers serving millions across the country, AULA will score this as a pro-life vote and calls on the Senate to actually have a vote, to show respect for the women who choose LIFE and those who volunteer their time to make that choice easier.”
The approximately 2,500 pregnancy care centers across the country serve over 2.3 million women and men each year with compassion and integrity. Driven by love, thousands of volunteers at PRCs perform an estimated 5.7 million hours of uncompensated work.
