(Washington, D.C.): John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life (AUL), issued the following statement ahead of the 2026 midterm election results:

“The American people are faced with many choices at the ballot box today that will inevitably affect pro-life representation in Congress. Regardless of whether today results in an affirmed pro-life majority or a new pro-abortion wave, the fight for life continues. Losing a pro-life majority in Congress will not stop us from making progress.

“For 55 years, Americans United for Life has endured adversarial administrations and unfavorable congressional majorities. Still, the pro-life movement eventually achieved what was once unimaginable for many in mainstream partisan politics by overturning Roe v. Wade.

“We will continue to lobby for agency action across the Trump administration independent of the election’s outcome. AUL is hopeful the Food and Drug Administration will produce a durable study that will fuel a restoration of in-person dispensing requirements, if not greater protections for women through mifepristone’s Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy. At the Department of Justice, we will continue to ask for the full enforcement of Comstock and accountability for providers who violate REMS.

“Among the states, we will persist in educating the public and shifting culture through policy. AUL has been proven effective regardless of a state’s political majority, empowering every state to protect life to the fullest extent politically possible. No single election can end the battle for life, and AUL will continue to fight at the frontlines tomorrow and until every life is fully protected, from conception to natural death.”
