“As the Wall Street Journal first reported, ‘Dueling Assessments of Planned Parenthood Videos’ shows that pressing questions must be investigated by Congress, as half-a-billion taxpayer dollars go to the nation’s number one abortionist federation each year,” said AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (09-01-15) — “Today’s video from the Center for Medical Progress again illustrates Planned Parenthood’s decade-long track record of trafficking in infant body parts and demands a strong legislative response. The video today indicates that babies have possibly been born alive during abortions, facing a horrific fate. Americans United for Life is calling on Congress to add criminal penalties to the National Born-Alive Infant Protection Act so that those babies born alive receive life-saving care, not dismemberment,” said Americans United for Life President & CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest, “And at the very least, such profiteering deserves immediate and thorough investigation because of the issues raised in the shocking, undercover videos.”
In today’s videos, Perrin Larton, the Procurement Manager for Advanced Bioscience Resources, Inc. (ABR), that nation’s oldest fetal tissue procurement company, discusses the business of dismembering infants and getting them to market quickly enough. “This abortion profiteering can never be politically correct,” said Yoest. “It’s inhumane. And, as we detailed in our letter to Congress, for Planned Parenthood and their partners, being politically correct should now be the least of their concerns. In six separate areas, these videos reveal possible felonies. Americans are reacting in horror to the accumulated weight of unethical and callous behavior revealed by these videos. If what we are seeing isn’t illegal, it should be.”
For those investigating possible crimes revealed in the video, Americans United for Life laid out the legal issues raised, now being considered in Congress. “It’s time to go behind the closed doors of the nation’s largest, ‘volume’ abortion federation, to determine in open hearings just what Planned Parenthood is doing with half-a-billion dollars in taxpayer money each year. And it’s time to redirect scarce healthcare dollars to full-service medical centers, like Community Health Clinics, that far outnumber the abortion industry leader locations, and truly serve women’s health needs,” said Dr. Yoest.
AUL’s concerns are gaining traction. The Wall Street Journal reported: “Americans United for Life on Thursday also sent letters to congressional leaders, saying its lawyers had reviewed seven unedited videos, concluding that they raise probable cause that Planned Parenthood violated at least six federal laws … Americans United for Life’s legal analysis states that comments in the videos raise probable cause that Planned Parenthood violated federal laws that include the altering of abortion procedures to obtain fetal tissue, getting value in exchange for fetal tissue, performing so-called partial-birth abortions and killing infants who are born alive after an attempted abortion.
