(Washington, D.C.): This Thursday, Americans United for Life (AUL) and coalition allies including Live Action, Human Coalition, the American Principles Project, National Right to Life, and Students for Life Action will be hosting a joint press conference with members of Congress, urging federal revival and extension of President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act abortion defunding provision.
This press conference, hosted at 10:00AM ET on the Capitol Hill lawn, will be followed by meetings between coalition partners and members and their staff on Capitol Hill.
Confirmed to join the press conference are Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Rep. Bob Onder (R-MO), Rep. Michelle Fischbach (R-MN) and Rep. Mark Harris (R-NC), with other invitations still pending.
John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life, stated, “The Pro-Life Movement is coming together to send a united message to leaders on Capitol Hill. Americans should not be forced to subsidize abortion, directly or indirectly, and Congress must immediately act to once again prevent federal Medicaid reimbursements from filling the coffers of Big Abortion.”
Sarah Zagorski, Senior Director of Public Relations and Communications for AUL, emphasized, “Defunding abortion providers like Planned Parenthood is more important than ever with the abortion pill crisis still unresolved. Reinstating this historic provision is new congressional baseline for protecting women, and a failure to defund abortion providers is a failure to women nationwide.”
