(Washington, D.C.): This morning, Americans United for Life (AUL) sent a letter to Speaker Johnson and Majority Leader Thune outlining essential policy priorities to be included in the upcoming reconciliation bill. These priorities build off the pro-life and pro-family policy wins under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act from July 2025.

This reconciliation, AUL is asking Congress for continued prohibition of funding facilities that perform elective abortions, support for pregnancy centers through a tax credit for charitable donations and immediate economic support to parents at the time of birth.

John Mize, CEO of AUL, stated, “Americans United for Life is proud to be leading the charge for extended defunding for abortion providers. Americans should not be shouldering the cost of abortion businesses through fungible taxpayer dollars. Reconciliation is the best chance our nation has to continue divesting from the abortion industry, and Congress has an obligation to taxpayers to capitalize upon it before the coming midterms.”

Sarah Zagorski, Senior Director of Public Relations and Communications at AUL, added, “Supporting bipartisan priorities like addressing the high cost of birth for mothers is essential to answering the affordability crisis plaguing the American public. Instead of supporting abortion providers, Congress must support our nation’s growing families. Financial concern is one the most cited reasons women choose abortion and making birth free is a first step in easing the worries of abortion-minded mothers and fathers.”
