(Washington, D.C.): After unfreezing Title X grant funds from flowing to Planned Parenthood in January, the Trump Administration has now extended another year of funds to the abortion provider. The Administration claims this will be the “fifth and final year” of grants established under the Biden presidency. White House officials have cited “significant legal challenges” as their reason for extending the funding, despite not having reinstated the Protect Life Rule.
John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life (AUL), stated, “It is a sad day for women in America, as the Trump Administration’s decision to extend Planned Parenthood funding is an alarming indicator that the well-being of women and families can be treated as expendable.
“At a time when women deserve stronger protections, better healthcare support, and authentic alternatives, funding Planned Parenthood communicates the opposite. We hope the administration will reconsider its direction, especially as many pro-life Americans will not accept concessions on abortion as the November midterm elections approach.”
Sarah Zagorski, Senior Director of Public Relations and Communications at AUL, emphasized, “Americans United for Life is deeply disappointed that the Trump Administration has once again compromised by extending Planned Parenthood funding for another year. Every day, Planned Parenthood ends the lives of over 1,000 unborn children and causes profound harm to their mothers. This decision undermines the Hyde Amendment and continues to allow the distribution of abortion-inducing drugs even in states that have enacted pro-life laws. The American people expect consistent leadership that defends the most vulnerable rather than making deals that compromise fundamental values.”
