Americans United for Life—and the greater Pro-Life Movement—has seen major victories for life this past year. In case you missed them, check out these top wins from 2025.

1. Defunding Big Abortion Through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

On July 4th, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was signed into law, which includes a first-in-a-generation win for Americans, defunding Big Abortion for one year. Abortion advocates have attempted to prevent this from going into effect, placing injunctions on the defunding provision, but these injunctions have now been struck down twice, and the provision upheld.

2. HHS & FDA Reviewing the Abortion Pill

In response to appeals from AUL and many others in the Pro-Life Movement, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Food & Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary committed their agencies to a full review of the abortion drug, mifepristone. Americans United for Life applauds this commitment and will continue holding the Administration to their promises for the safety of women and girls.

3. Protecting Taxpayer Dollars Under Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic

In June, the Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision rejected Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit against South Carolina over its decision to defund the abortion giant, holding that it cannot bring a challenge in federal court to the State’s decision disqualifying Medicaid providers that offer abortions. This precedent has allowed other states to follow in the footsteps of South Carolina to defund abortion providers in their states.

4. Introduction of Make Birth Free in Congress

This past May, Congress introduced the bipartisan Supporting Healthy Moms and Babies Act in both the House and the Senate, which incorporated AUL’s long-standing Make Birth Free Initiative. Parents deserve to be confident they can support their children and overcome the financial barriers that discourages many Americans from growing their families.

5. Federal Child Tax Credit Expansion

Another provision within the One Big Beautiful Bill Act increased the Child Tax Credit and strengthened the Adoption Tax Credit. AUL recognizes the financial challenges some face in parenthood and recognizes this as a major pro-family victory that bridges the political aisle for all Americans.

6. Rollback of Biden-Era Abortion Mandates

The election of President Trump resulted in a rollback of numerous federal agency rules designed to promote elective abortion, such as the rescission by HHS and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in June of a rule that required hospitals to offer abortion “care” should it be needed to stabilize a patient with emergent health conditions, as well as a correction of a Biden era rule that attempted to force the Veterans’ Administration to provide abortions and the Department of Defense to facilitate access to them.

7. Supreme Court Hears First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, Inc. v. Platkin

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, Inc. v. Platkin case regarding an unlawful and over-reaching subpoena intended to chill the First Amendment rights of pregnancy centers. While the decision has not been handed down yet, AUL is confident the Court will protect First Choice and pregnancy centers across the nation from attacks by pro-abortion government officials.

8. Arkansas Tops the AUL Life List for Six Years in a Row

Each year, AUL ranks all 50 states based on life-affirming law, stitching across all bioethical issues including abortion, assisted suicide, and artificial reproduction. For the sixth year in a row, Arkansas topped the list, led by committed state and local pro-life organizations, pro-life legislators, and Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders—a long-time defender of life.

9. New Study Demonstrates Link Between Abortion and Persistent Emotional Distress

A new study in the International Journal of Women’s Health Care suggested approximately 1 in 4 women out of the 31 million post-abortive women in the United States suffer from “serious post-abortion distress” and nearly half of those show multiple symptoms of PTSD. The mental and emotional effects of abortion have been downplayed by the abortion lobby, and this study is essential to recognizing the decades-long trauma women face following abortion.

10. The Center for Client Safety Joins AUL as Enforcement Division

Americans United for Life has joined forces with the Center for Client Safety, which now operates as AUL’s enforcement division. CCS is a highly effective enforcement organization focused on holding dangerous abortion providers and facilities accountable for their wrongdoing. Since joining AUL, CCS has helped secure significant enforcement victories, including testifying a legislative review concerning the illegal dispensing of abortion pills at a notoriously noncompliant abortion facility in Nebraska. CCS also requested and testified at a public hearing in Illinois aimed at preventing an abortion facility from quietly relinquishing its ambulatory surgical treatment center license and getting critical information on the public record. Through investigative procedures, formal complaints, testimony, appeals, and collaboration with regulatory and law-enforcement authorities, CCS plays a central role in holding the abortion industry accountable and will continue to do so into the coming year.

Fueled by these victories, AUL is excited for the year to come. Together, we can save more lives than ever in 2026!
