(Washington, D.C.): Yesterday, the First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals placed a hold on the injunction by Boston-based Judge Indira Talwani. Judge Talwani placed an injunction in July on a provision within the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that defunded Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.
John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life (AUL), stated, “While judicial overreach may have delayed our progress, the cause of life is advancing and cannot be defeated. We are thankful the First Circuit overruled this egregious attempt to legislate from the bench. Our laws should reflect this foundational principle, and Americans deserve better than unelected judges who place politics over innocent lives.”
Senior Public Relations and Communication Director for Americans United for Life, Sarah Zagorski, added, “We are pleased that the First Circuit put an end to Judge Talwani’s radical agenda to try and force Americans to subsidize abortion through Medicaid. Women should not be culturally coerced into relying on Planned Parenthood instead of authentic providers of health care, including federally qualified health centers.”
