Last month, Sarah Zagorski joined the Americans United for Life (AUL) team as the new Senior Director of Public Relations & Communications. Sarah has served in the pro-life movement for nearly two decades, most recently as Director of Communications at Louisiana Right to Life.
In her capacity at AUL, Sarah will be devising and executing communications strategy for the organization, leading press and media outreach efforts. Leading communications efforts for America’s first national pro-life organization, Sarah will be leading the charge in challenging and tearing down the pro-abortion rhetoric and strategies that had targeted her own family.
Given her story, Sarah describes her calling to pro-life work as a “gift.”
Sarah is the survivor of a late-term abortion her mother—a Honduran immigrant and single mother—sought in Louisiana after facing hardship. The abortion ultimately failed, and Sarah was born alive. Her mother insisted the doctor provide life-saving care, though her story did not end there.
For nearly a decade, Sarah lived within the foster care system, facing the realities of difficult reunification attempts that eventually placed her back with her foster family each time. Sarah was later adopted but still continued to build relationships with her biological family, which involved facing the abortion attempt and grappling with the reasons her mother felt like she had no other option.
Simply put, Sarah has the lived-experiences to advocate for women and their children from a place of empathy and compassion.
Sarah has used her story to work in the lives of others, detailing her experiences in a chapter of Choose Life by Moody Publishers as well as contributing to multiple prominent media outlets including Fox News, Focus on the Family, National Review, and EWTN. More broadly, Sarah’s expertise within the movement has been featured or cited by The New York Times, CNN, Politico, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, The Daily Wire, The Washington Post, and The Washington Examiner.
