Calls for Peaceful Advocacy and Unity in the Fight for Human Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – As our nation prepares to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 20, Americans United for Life (AUL) honors the life and legacy of Dr. King, whose unwavering faith, courage, and vision for justice transformed the course of history. A champion for civil rights, Dr. King’s work reminds us of the ongoing need to ensure that every human being, regardless of race, status, or stage of life, is afforded the dignity and opportunity to thrive.

John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life, commented:

“Dr. King once said, ‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’ His words continue to ring true today as we confront the greatest human rights challenge of our time—the right to life for all, from conception to natural death. As Dr. King’s Christian faith drove him to confront injustice through peaceful advocacy, we too are inspired to persevere in the face of success and adversity, with a vision for a future where every human life is valued and protected.”

“Dr. King’s commitment to nonviolence and dialogue serves as a guide for today’s pro-life movement, which seeks to engage hearts and minds through peaceful, prayerful conversations and respectful debate. Just as Dr. King sought to build bridges across communities, AUL calls on leaders, individuals, and especially the Church, to break the silence and join in defending the inherent dignity of every person.”
