Steven H. Aden, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel at Americans United for Life , issued the following statement on the the Supreme Courts refusal to uphold necessary safeguards surrounding the abortion pill:
Americans United for Life is extremely disappointed that the U.S. Supreme Court has once again decided to do nothing to stop runaway federal courts from endangering women’s health and safety. The Food and Drug Administration’s conditions on prescribing RU-486 – the abortion drug known as Mifeprex – were in place for twenty years until a single judge at the behest of the abortion industry ordered the rule changed on the pretext that the COVID-19 pandemic is hindering access to abortion. The scientists and doctors at FDA knew better, and allowed abortion drugs to be dispensed only according to strict rules designed to protect women from known serious risks – including a potentially deadly ectopic pregnancy. We call upon the Supreme Court and the court of appeals to intervene and restore necessary medical protections to this dangerous drug.
