Catherine Glenn Foster, President & CEO of Americans United for Life, issued the following statement responding to the news that Senator Kamala Harris of California has been selected to serve as the Democratic candidate for Vice President:
“We don’t know what Joe Biden really believes when it comes to abortion. He has waffled and flip-flopped on almost every question relating to the human right to life during his fifty years as a politician. Biden has gone from supporting the Hyde Amendment’s protections from taxpayer-funded abortions and opposing the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade abortion imperialism, to now seeking to repeal the Hyde Amendment and even enshrine Roe v. Wade into federal law. What does Biden really believe? Who knows. But the scary thing about Kamala Harris is that we know exactly what she believes when it comes to abortion.
Kamala Harris holds the most extreme anti-life positions imaginable. During her tenure as Attorney General of California, Harris selectively prosecuted investigative journalist David Daleiden, while completely refusing to acknowledge what his work uncovered: Planned Parenthood’s pattern of profiteering on the remains of aborted children. More recently, Harris has cemented her endorsements from the abortion lobby, even proposing that she would require states to pre-clear any new life-affirming laws with the federal government – leading the former vice president of Planned Parenthood to say, “It really goes on the offense. It’s a real game changer.” Implicitly promising that the federal government would quash every attempt to protect women and children in the states – is that Joe Biden’s latest position on abortion? We may not know just what Joe Biden truly believes about the human right to life. But we do know this: Kamala Harris’s abortion extremism is crystal clear.”
