WASHINGTON, D.C. – In support of life-saving safety standards for women seeking abortions, a broad coalition of pro-life groups are hosting a rally outside the U.S. Supreme Court on March 4, 2020, at 9 a.m. (EST).

Held in conjunction with oral arguments in June Medical Services v. Russo (fact sheet), the rally—themed “Protect Women, Protect Life”—highlights the proven role of Louisiana’s Unsafe Abortion Protection Act in protecting the health and safety of women, while calling into question the role of abortion doctors who have gone to extraordinary lengths to erase a law that protects women.

Louisiana’s law requires abortion doctors, like doctors at all Louisiana outpatient surgical centers, to be able to admit and treat their patients at nearby hospitals. This ensures that doctors performing abortions will be competent professionals who provide the continuity of care their patients deserve.

Yet, Louisiana abortion businesses have gone to extraordinary lengths to erase a law that promotes the wellbeing of women.

Louisiana abortion providers have an alarming record of substandard healthcare, including botched abortions, the failure to report harm to women who have had abortions, the intentional destruction of medical records, and the failure to satisfy basic sanitary requirements. Real women have been hurt by abortion providers in Louisiana.

The rally will feature the following speakers:

  • Louisiana State Rep. Katrina Jackson (author of Louisiana’s Unsafe Abortion Protection Act)
  • U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-La.)
  • U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-Mont.)
  • U.S. Representative Steve Scalise (R-La.)
  • U.S. Representative Mike Johnson (R-La.)
  • Jeff Landry (Louisiana Attorney General)
  • Leslie Rutledge (Arkansas Attorney General)
  • Kristen Day (President of Democrats for Life)
