Americans United for Life released the following statement in light of the New York State Assembly’s Committee on Health to advance detrimental legislation:

Americans United for Life is deeply disappointed that the New York State Assembly-Committee on Health has passed A. 21, the “Reproductive Health Act.” Contrary to its title, this bill is sure to have detrimental effects on the health of both women and unborn children.

Bradley N. Kehr, AUL Government Affairs Counsel, submitted testimony to the members of the committee imploring them to vote down this brazenly anti-life action.

If this bill becomes law, as Governor Cuomo has vowed it will, residents of New York will be powerless to preserve common-sense protections for women and children’s health, and moreover the legislature will have affirmatively rejected future protections.

Americans United for Life will continue to sound the alarm on this deceptive effort, as we urge all members of the New York State Assembly to reject the Reproductive Health Act.
