Leana Wen, President of Planned Parenthood, confirms what anyone who has been paying attention has long known: abortion is Planned Parenthood’s “core” purpose:
This admission came in response to BuzzFeedNews’s profile of Planned Parenthood and its new president. “The last thing I would want is people to get the impression that we are backing off of our core services,” Wen told BuzzFeedNews. As Kate Scanlon notes, Planned Parenthood cannot credibly claim abortion shouldn’t be a reason to defund the organization because it is allegedly “only 3 percent” of what Planned Parenthood does, while at the same time confirming that abortion is its “core mission:”
