Events around the Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court are happening so fast, it’s hard to keep up with them. Shortly after yesterday’s Kavanaugh Column was posted, Senate Republicans agreed to a one-week postponement of the Senate vote on the nomination. President Trump followed shortly thereafter with an announcement that he is directing the FBI to conduct a follow-up investigation into the allegations of sexual assault against Judge Kavanaugh. Both Kavanaugh and his accuser, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, have said they would cooperate with the investigation. Two others identified by Ford as present at the house where the assault took place, P.J. Smythe and Mark Judge, said through counsel that they would also cooperate. The earliest the full Senate vote could take place is now Friday, October 5th.
