“For too long, Planned Parenthood was able to hide behind millions of dollars in public relations campaigns with the help of legislative allies banking money from Planned Parenthood’s political operation. But today, we have an opportunity to learn just what goes on behind the closed doors of Abortion, Inc., Planned Parenthood,” said AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (10-07-15)
— Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest commended the members of the U.S. House for a historic, pro-life vote to carefully investigate the nation’s number one abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. “Funded with half-a-billion taxpayer dollars annually, Planned Parenthood should be examined closely for its business practices as we consider images of their top officials haggling over the profits to be made from selling the broken bodies of unborn infants,” said AUL’s Dr. Yoest. “It’s time to defund Planned Parenthood, redirecting those funds to true, healthcare facilities for women, and Americans United for Life commends the House for establishing a Select Committee to investigate Planned Parenthood.”

The House voted 242-184 in favor of a Select Committee, empowered for a comprehensive examination of Planned Parenthood’s abortion-centered business. Dr. Yoest praised House members, in particular Rep. Virginia Foxx, who sponsored the resolution approved today.

Dr. Yoest observed, “Real healthcare respects life. In light of the troubling Center for Medical Progress videos, the U.S. House made the right call in looking into troubling legal issues raised in the Center for Medical Progress videos, as well as in AUL’s own analysis of Planned Parenthood’s scandal-ridden profit centers.”

Dr. Yoest testified about the troubling legal issues raised in the undercover videos revealing Planned Parenthood’s trafficking in infant body parts. To read her testimony and to see AUL’s legal analysis of the issues raised, click here.
