A Virginia legislator introduced a bill earlier this month that if passed would make Virginia the fifth state to enact a sex-selective abortion law, according to Americans United for Life (AUL), a national pro-life organization based in Washington D.C.
This kind of bill reinforces the fact that sex discrimination has no place in a civilized society, said Mailee Smith, AUL staff counsel.
“Sex-selection abortion prohibitions are a vital piece of preventing the murder of unborn children,” Smith said, adding that there are 163 million girls missing from the world because of sex selection abortions.
