(Washington, D.C.): Republican senators, led by Sen. Todd Young (R-IN), sent a letter today to President Trump urging the reinstatement of the Protect Life Rule.

This rule blocked Title X funding from clinics that performed, referred or promoted abortions and was finalized under the first Trump Administration in 2019. President Biden quickly rescinded this rule early in his administration and Trump has not yet reinstated the policy.

John Mize, CEO of Americans United for Life (AUL), stated, “Americans United for Life supported the Protect Life Rule under the first Trump Administration and continues to support it now as a necessary protection for Title X dollars. Reinstating a policy his Administration has already historically championed is within reach and would be a major win for life. We urge President Trump to immediately restore this protective rule.”

Sarah Zagorski, Senior Director of Public Relations and Communications at AUL, emphasized, “Preventing Title X funds from funding abortion allows taxpayer dollars to be reallocated to authentic care for women. Community clinics and federally qualified health centers who do not provide or refer for abortion are central to women’s healthcare and should be the recipients of this funding, not abortion clinics. Funding abortion betrays the moral conscience of taxpayers and must end.”
