Steven H. Aden, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel at Americans United for Life, issued the following statement on the Supreme Courts denial of review regarding South Carolina’s request to reinstate its blockade on Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers:
Americans United for Life is disappointed that the Supreme Court has denied review of a decision striking down South Carolina’s decision to de-fund Planned Parenthood for Medicaid funding abuses. The Court’s failure to fulfill its proper role of settling clear conflicts between courts of appeals and ruling on important national issues such as the stance of well over a dozen States that the nation’s biggest abortion chain, Planned Parenthood, should not be entitled to taxpayer funding, has left citizens in different states subject to different requirements under the same Act of Congress. Americans United for Life calls upon the Court to take up this critical issue at its earliest opportunity.”
