Catherine Glenn Foster on Justice Kennedy Retirement

The following statement is from Catherine Glenn Foster, president of Americans United for Life:

“Now that Justice Anthony Kennedy — a 25-year defender of abortion on the Supreme Court and the key vote to perpetuate Roe v. Wade — is retiring, we urge President Trump to nominate a committed constitutionalist to the Supreme Court who will hew to the intended meaning of the nation’s charter and refrain from employing it as a means of social engineering. We note that the President’s list of potential nominees includes several such candidates with impeccable credentials. The Supreme Court, and the American people, need Justices who understand that the Constitution is the Nation’s highest form of precedent and that the Court should allow space for reargument of poorly reasoned precedent, rather than prematurely declaring permanent victors in divisive constitutional debates.”
