AUL Applauds the House for Voting to Cut Federal Funding to Planned Parenthood & President Obama’s Pro-Abortion Health Care Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. (04-14-11) — Americans United for Life President and CEO Dr. Charmaine Yoest applauded the House’s vote to cut federal funding to the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, “a bi-partisan budget cut with heart.”

“The House is listening to the majority of Americans who do not want to see their tax dollars go to the bloated, scandal-ridden abortion industry,” Dr. Yoest noted.

Dr. Yoest also commended the House for voting to remove federal funding for President Obama’s health care law that violates existing standards prohibiting federal funding of abortion.

“It is time to repeal President Obama’s pro-abortion health care law, which fails to protect innocent human life and includes a number of vehicles through which abortion and abortion-inducing drugs can be paid for with tax dollars,” she said.

“Democrats and Republicans in the House have come together on these important matters. In particular, the House’s reinstating the Hyde Amendment for the District of Columbia (The Dornan Amendment) to ensure that taxpayers are no longer forced to directly fund abortions is a tremendous pro-life victory, ” Yoest noted. “Now it is up to the Senate to represent their constituencies, rather than the interests of the politically influential abortion lobby.”
