Charmaine Email Image Experienced in the politics of the Supreme Court nomination process, Dr. Yoest testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee during the July 2009 confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Sonia Sotomayor, one of many such opportunities. From her White House days in the Reagan Administration to her leadership as project director of the Family, Gender and Tenure Project at the University of Virginia where she received her PhD, Yoest is well versed in both Beltway politics and the science of politics. Yoest is well-known as an author and public policy expert and brings vast hands-on experience on domestic policy issues to her task.

Clarke Forsythe, Esq.
Senior Counsel

Clarke Forsythe AUL Senior Counsel, Forsythe served for nearly a decade as AUL’s president, among his many legal accomplishments. Forsythe has argued cases before federal and state courts, and has testified before Congress and state legislatures. He is also a prolific writer who has been widely published on pro-life legal issues. From his long tenure in legal battles at all levels of the courts and inside the Beltway, his analysis of the current nomination includes the history of such conflicts.

Mary Harned, Esq.


Mary Harned Staff Counsel Mary Harned has been on the inside on the confirmation process on Capitol Hill. She formerly served as Chief Counsel to U.S. Senator Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and assisted him on the hearings for all judicial nominations, including those of Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court. Prior to that, she served as Legislative Counsel and Judiciary Counsel to Alabama U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Anna Franzonello, Esq.

Anna Franzonello Anna Franzonello is Staff Counsel with Americans United for Life. Anna formerly served as a Legal Fellow for Americans United for Life in 2008 and was a Blackstone Fellow with the Alliance Defense Fund, a well-known legal watchdog organization. She is a graduate of Norte Dame Law School.

Matthew Faraci
VP of Communications

Matthew Faraci Vice President for Communications & Marketing, Faraci came to AUL from the U.S. Council on Competitiveness, and brings to AUL an expertise in messaging and top-level media strategy. He served as a spokesman for Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao during the Bush Administration and also handled press operations for DOL’s Employment and Training and Mine Safety and Health Administrations. Both as a television producer and Capitol Hill press secretary, Faraci has participated in building a story and crafting a message.
