Screening Funds Redirected to Non-Abortion Providers
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, March 19 – Today, Missouri
Governor Matt Blunt announced that his administration had uncovered programmed
funding of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics in Springfield and Joplin and
ended the flow of taxpayer dollars to those clinics. Instead, Governor Blunt
directed expanded government funding for breast and cervical cancer screenings
to other area institutions expanding access for women in those geographic areas
and across the state.
“Governor Blunt is doing a great job for Missouri
taxpayers,” said Kerry Messer, the Missouri representative of Americans United
for Life (AUL). “By ferreting out and eliminating hidden funding streams to
abortion providers, his administration is ensuring that the important government
assistance to women does not go to those institutions dedicated to destroying
innocent human life. Missouri needs more statesmen who will stand up for the
weak and defenseless and not blindly follow the lead of special interest
groups.”

Blunt’s lead and critically review their administration’s processes for similar

from previous administrations.
