Jessica J. Sage joined Americans United for Life (AUL) as as staff counsel in March 2009. Her responsibilities include assisting the Vice President of Legal Affairs with all aspects of AUL’s legal program including legislative drafting and consulting and the development of new life-affirming legislation related to abortion and end-of-life issues. Jessica drafts amicus curiae briefs on behalf of AUL and its clients to educate federal and state courts across the nation on pro-life issues. Jessica also contributes to AUL's annual publication Defending Life: Proven Strategies for a Pro-Life America.
Prior to joining AUL, Jessica worked as a staff attorney and registered lobbyist with the North Carolina Family Policy Council. She served as a legislative fellow for the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and was a certified extern with the state attorney’s office in Okaloosa County, Florida. She is a Blackstone Fellow and National Litigation Academy graduate with the Alliance Defense Fund.
Jessica graduated with honors from Florida State University School of Law in 2003, where she served as Associate Editor of the Law Review. Her article “Authority of the Law? The Contribution of Secularized Legal Education to the Moral Crisis of the Profession,” was published in the Florida State University Law Review.
Before law school, Jessica served as a scientific analyst and protocol officer in the United States Air Force from 1995 to 2003. She earned an MBA from Colorado State University in 1999 and a Bachelor of Science in Operations Research from the United States Air Force Academy in 1995.
Jessica currently resides in the Washington, DC area with her husband and three children.
